The company was formed by Neville Askanasy, John Westacott and Borg Gjorstvang (two Danes and an Aussie). Memorable in-house designs and quality craftsmanship led to the firm becoming a leading Australian furniture producer during the 1960's through to the 80's. The company also produced high end and technically challenging designs by legendary Danish designers like Hans Wegner & Niels Moller.
As well as manufacturing furniture for domestic consumption, Danish DeLuxe also sold to offshore markets in New Zealand and Hong Kong. High points for the company include producing the chairs for the Australian Pavilion at EXPO 67 in Montreal, the Australian Academy of Science building in Canberra, and the Sydney Opera House. The company also manufactured the Grant and Mary Featherson "Talking Chair MKII".
Today Danish Deluxe pieces continue to be coveted for their timeless design and enduring craftsmanship.
