Paul Cullen 'Landscape 2' Rug for Dilana
A bespoke, artisan rug from the Dilana Workshop.
Paul Cullen describes his work as a strategy of fabricational ploys directed toward sculptural outcomes that range discursively across drawing, object making and installation. In 2006 Dilana invited Cullen to design a limited edition range; the resulting rugs have been exhibited in France and featured in major art and interior design magazines.
"Adapting my drawings to the format of rugs was a challenging and exciting experience. A drawing, generally, is viewed from one angle and is placed on a wall. As rugs my drawings would be seen from any direction, thus my selection and changes took this requirement as a guiding principle." says Cullen.
Dilana has been hand crafting New Zealand's most luxurious rugs for over 35 years. Since opening their Christchurch based Workshop in 1980, the company has successfully collaborated with many leading contemporary artists. The Dilana legacy can be seen in some of the most distinguished homes, commercial buildings, art galleries and museums throughout the world.
This rug has been hand tufted from the finest New Zealand wool at the Dilana workshop in Christchurch.
