Description

This beautifully detailed clothes hanger / wall valet is a significant example of premium Danish design and craftsmanship. The design is by the highly respected duo of Adam Hoff and Poul Østergaard. Adam Hoff (1932) was trained as a cabinet maker at Normina of Frederiksberg and Poul Østergaard (1933-2010) was educated at the Kunsthåndværkerskolen.

Before he was appointed as professor at the Arhus School of Architecture in 1968, Østergaard worked together with Hoff on furniture designs for a number of years. Their models were executed by Virum Mobelsnedkeri and were admitted to the Copenhagen Cabinetmakers Guild Exhibition (Snedkerlaugets Møbeludstilling) for several years.

This elegant design was introduced at the 1963 edition of this prestigious show and is without a doubt their best-known work.
