Eames DSS Chair for Herman Miller
Charles and Ray Eames were on to a winner with this sleek, multi-purpose chair.
With a grand sense of adventure, the Eames' turned their curiosity and boundless enthusiasm into creations that established them as a truly great husband-and-wife design team. From it's release in 1950 The DSS chair quickly set the standard for institutional seating. The initials stand for Dining (height) Side (chair) Stacking (base).
The DSS chair's great comfort and lightness of form made it the first choice for Universities and halls throughout the world and has cemented this design as one of the most iconic chairs of the 20th century. These particular chairs were produced in 1977 and are just as elegant and comfortable today.
