A sculptural celebration of organic Swedish modernism, Gustaf Axel Berg’s 'Torparen 2' armchair pairs sinuous curves with an inviting, ergonomic form, perfectly complemented by a generous matching ottoman. The flowing, biomorphic silhouette delivers lightness of form and timeless elegance, making a refined statement in any interior.
This rare modernist design has an interesting New Zealand provenance, as it was retailed locally by leading contemporary design store Jon Jansen in the early 1950s. It would have made quite a statement in it's time and an example can now be found in the permanent collection at Te Papa.
This coveted set is in very good original condition, ideal for a discerning collector.
Each piece is checked and carefully hand restored at our Kingsland studio workshop. Our focus is preserving the character and patina of the design while ensuring it displays beautifully in a contemporary interior.
