The iconic 'Hollywood' Armchair was one of the coveted New Zealand furniture designs of the late 1950s, bringing a touch of Hollywood glamour and Atomic Age optimism into Kiwi homes. Its sculptural banana-shaped solid timber apron creates a striking floating profile above elegantly splayed mid-century legs.
Beautifully crafted with a gently flared backrest and generous seat, the Hollywood Armchair combines exceptional comfort with timeless style. A true icon of New Zealand modernism, it remains celebrated for its distinctive silhouette, enduring craftsmanship, and unmistakable character.
The design retailed through a number of leading NZ furniture stores, the most prominent is McKenzie & Willis in Christchurch.
