Radical Michele De Lucchi 'First' Chairs by Memphis Milano
Designed by Michele De Lucchi for Memphis Milano in 1983, the iconic 'First' Chair is one of the most recognisable pieces to emerge from the radical Memphis movement. Founded by Ettore Sottsass, Memphis broke free from modernist constraints, reintroducing colour, wit and unconventional materials to furniture design.
The 'First' Chair is a playful abstraction of a seated figure, featuring a tubular steel frame with a sweeping circular backrest, sky blue oval disc, glossy black spheres at the arm joints, and a circular seat. Regularly exhibited in design museums worldwide, this is a genuine collector's piece.
NOTE: Price is per chair, we have two available.
Each piece is checked and carefully hand restored at our Kingsland studio workshop. Our focus is preserving the character and patina of the design while ensuring it displays beautifully in a contemporary interior...
