A beautifully resolved Scandinavian design by one of Sweden’s most celebrated post-war furniture makers, Arne Norell’s Indra armchair and ottoman pairs a sculptural curved beech frame with rich tan leather upholstery and deeply buttoned cushions. Exposed leather straps and buckle detailing give the design its distinctive character, while the softened patina adds warmth and depth.
Generous in proportion and exceptionally comfortable, the Indra reflects Norell’s talent for combining innovative construction with luxurious ease. An elegant and highly original armchair that brings quiet presence to both refined living interiors and premium commercial spaces.

Norell began making furniture out of a small workshop in 1954. He discovered that he had a natural flair for design, and in 1958 moved to Smaland where he founded Mobel AB Arne Norell. This furniture company still supplies the market with Norell classics.
Norell was a true artist who spent his lifetime experimenting with new materials; testing their potential and creating innovative combinations. Turned wood, leather upholstery and stainless steel were his materials of choice.
Norell excelled in the mid 20th century with designs that were bold and unique. In 1973 he won 'Show Piece of the Year' Britain's most prestigious prize. This award firmly cemented Norell as one of Europe's leading mid century designers.
