Pair of Larsen & Bender Madsen Occasional Chairs
A rare and coveted design from an award winning Danish duo.
The designs of Danish Architects Ejner Larsen & Axel Bender Madsen have become highly sought after by collectors throughout the world. Their body of work has helped shape the legacy of Danish design with its unique form and sculptural execution. Starting in 1947, the duo produced over 300 designs and annually exhibited at the Copenhagen Cabinetmakers' Guild Furniture Exhibition. They won the Guild's Annual Prize in 1956 and 1961, as well as several other awards in furniture and art competitions.
The duo worked with some of Denmark's premier cabinetmakers such as Fritz Hansen and Ludwig Pontoppidan but it is their 25 year relationship with master cabinetmaker Willy Beck that they are most known for. These chairs are an elegant and sophisticated example of the talented duo's work, they are constructed to the highest standard and will stand out in any modern interior.
